This is my first entry to Scrap Around the World!

This is the May mood board that is the inspiration for the page below.

What stood out to me was the mood “happy” with this board. The bright colors, presents, shoes, balloons – and the word Celebrate. It led me straight to a photo of my DD from last summer when we took her to the county fair for the first time. She was fascinated by the carousel. It is amazing to watch her reaction to new things. Children have such honest reactions to situations. To me, the word CELEBRATE brought out the need to celebrate my daughter’s childhood and preserve it. This is the reason I got into scrapping in the first place.

So here is what I came up with!!

The background is created with gesso, acrylic paint and gelatos. I wanted the yellow to pop, so I kept adding water to the gelatos until they had the pastel, faded look I was going for.

I wanted the journaling to mimic the carousel, so I made it look like it was on a post and added a floral cluster. I added a stamped letter title above the journaling to balance out the page. All the flowers are hand-made using the layered circle technique.

The photo cluster I wanted to keep fairly simple. I kept adding things though. For the corners, I used a spellbinder die, some kraft paper, and I embossed with gold powder. I like the metallic addition to the page. I used the same technique for the journaling background.
